The EMLC is part of the Environmental Markets Leadership Program

The Environmental Markets Leadership Program is designed to inspire and support a network of farmers and land managers to play a leading role in natural capital and environmental markets. Five key elements make up the Program:

  • Environmental Markets Leadership Network (the Network), where program participants can connect, share information, solve problems, ask and answer questions, and support each other.

  • Environmental Markets Leadership Course (EMLC).

  • Environmental Markets Plan, to map out how they will participate in environmental markets.

  • Facilitated network meet-ups and workshops.

  • Ongoing support from NSW Local Land Services and other agencies.

The Program kicked off in September 2022, will run for two years, and has 125 farmers and land managers from across NSW participating.

The NSW Environmental Markets Leadership Program is being offered by the NSW Local Land Services (NSW governance and delivery partner) and  Ethical Fields (program initiation, direction, and delivery). It was developed by Ethical Fields in collaboration with NSW Local Land Services, Behaviour Works Australia (behaviour change partner), JBass Learning (learning partner), and the University of New England (advisory role).

Driving Risk Based Regulation online conference, February 2022

Client: The Hatchery

Brief: facilitate the pre-conference workshop.

Approach: designed and developed an interactive 3-hour online workshop: Benchmarking for performance excellence. Using neuroscience to build regulatory capability (see ‘Workshops’).

‘Effective recruitment is a critical first step in establishing and maintaining an effective regulatory workforce, and behaviour is the major determinant of performance. While it can be relatively easy to determine if the applicant has the knowledge and skills, it can be harder to know if they have the behaviours needed for high performance. Neuroscience has shown that people tend to be most motivated and successful when they use their behavioural preferences in a work environment that supports and rewards those preferences.’

In the workshop, the group co-created a PRISM role benchmark to identify the behavioural strengths, behavioural strengths, work aptitude and work environment preferences needed for success in the role of a front-line regulator.

Outputs: Workshop facilitation. PRISM role benchmark, front-line regulator - distributed to all workshop participants.
